Only Hindus Allowed

Marriage in India has religious sanctity. Only and only, Hindus are allowed to marry at Arya Samaj. This is a legal restriction. All couples get married at AryaSamaj2.0 under HIndu Marriage act , 1956 of our constitution.

Here the definition of Hindu is Not precise. It is more of an exclusive definition than an inclusive one. Hindus in this context essentially mean the one who is not a Moslem, Christian or Parsi. Rest are all classified as Hindus. Sikhs, Jain, Buddhists are all included in Hindus and are eligible for marriage at Aryasamaj2.0.

If a non-hindu wants to amrray a Hindu partner, he / she needs to formally embrace Hindu religion. The process is a legal one involving self declaration and specific ceremonies. Arya Samaj facilitates this process after carefully examining merits of each case.

If a foreigner wants to get married in AryaSamaj2.0, certain specific rules relating to his / her own countries would be applicable. In some cases, a formal ‘No-objection’ certificate is required. In case of Non Resident Indians (NRI), a special affidavit with their current country of stay is required.

However, these legalities are required only when the couple need a ‘Legal’ marriage certificate from AryaSamaj2.0. For conducting a marriage Sanskar ( or vidhi ) , only a signed declaration from couple is enough. We will NOT issue any certificate in this case.
