No Feast / No Gifts
No Feast / No Gifts
Shanti Havan is not a happy celebration – it is a graceful and elegant social duty. Inviting many priests, unrelated people and treating them with sumptuous feast is strictly against Vedic principles and teachings. Small notional prasad is more than adequate for this occasion.
No Donations – No Gifts
Often people donate cloths, money, linen, eatable and even furniture to priest with a belief that these articles would reach (or will be enjoyed by) the departed soul. This has no spiritual or logical foundation.
As per Vedic Philosophy, future state of departed soul is entirely dependent on ‘Karmas’ done by him in current life. God’s decision in this context is always fair, just and unchangeable. There is no way, God can be influenced or bribed by our current noble deeds to grant special favors to departed soul.
