How to register marriage at Pune
How to register marriage at Pune
Pune is the large metropolitan City. The city is divided into 41different wards. Each ward has its own office and a marriage registrar. This office assumes responsibility of registering marriages of people residing in his ward only. For example- Kothrud ward office cannot register marriage for person residing at Kalyani Nagar.
For registering your marriage in Pune, you need to take a form ‘D’ from the respective ward office. This office is normally in the same building for property and rent registration for the ward. After the marriage is over, you need to submit this form enclosing all necessary documents (like identify proof, age proof, residence proof ) along with Arya samaj Certificate and signature of priest who has conducted the marriage. Two or three persons would also need to testify as witness. Their identity / residence proof are also required.
Word office would normally ask all people (bride- groom and witness) to come to the worked office on a specific date and time. On this day the bride & groom will be photographed and their fingerprints are taken. The marriage certificate is issued on the same day. It takes about 3-4 days for the entire process to complete.
Can a Person residing in Pune & marrying in Delhi register his marriage in Pune?
Yes and No. It all depends. The marriage registrar may refuse to register the marriage because the marriage did not take place in Pune. However in most cases, if you have a proper residential proof in that ward you can get the marriage registered. Either the bride or the groom (or their parents) should be residing in Pune to get the marriage registered.
If the bride and groom are from different cities and they come to Pune only for solemnizing the marriage, it is very difficult (almost impossible) for them to get the marriage registered in Pune.
