Run Away Marriages

Arya Samaj has been stamped with an unfair assumption that any one can run away from home and get married at Arya Samaj. We wish to forcefully state that this is NOT true. This image has resulted due to many illegal and false institutions posing themselves as Arya Samaj and distributing bogus certificates.

Arya Samaj is, and has always been, a reformist movement. We are committed to eradicate social evils of caste, dowry, child marriage etc. However, some people rename any kind of ‘inter-caste marriage ( so called Love marriage ) and use Arya Samaj as a lever to force their parents towards approval of this matrimonial alliance.

AryaSamaj2.0 emphasizes that we are against all such social evils and strongly favor ‘Inter-caste’ marriages. Yet, we firmly deny any marriage that is being done solely for the purpose of settling scores with the parents. We are as much with the parents as with the marrying couple. Consent of parents for marriage is not essential but all possible efforts to convince them should have been done before the marriage is finalized.

First condition for a couple to marry is that both bride and groom should like one another and are in complete agreement to marry. If the parents do not approve of marriage due to any reasons, both boy and girl should make all possible efforts to convince them. We repeat that the ‘Consent’ or permission from parents is NOT required, but prior information to parents about the marriage is a must for AryaSamaj2.0.

In case of non-consenting parents, both boy and girl need to meet AryaSamaj2.0 officials in person and explain the reasons. We would discuss the validity of reasons and efforts made by couple towards getting approval from parents. ( Note that AryaSamaj2.0 never gets directly involved in discussion with parents nor EVER informs anyone about the same. We fully respect the right of privacy for individuals.
However, AryaSamaj2.0 reserves the right to refuse / allow the marriage without assigning any reason.
